“She was Alpha’s mate. And those were their twin boys.” Ace turned to her, visibly stunned. “I didn’t know…” Vespara nodded solemnly. “Most don’t. It’s a story that’s never really told because the pain has always been too great. During one of the worst pack wars in history, Alpha’s entire family was caught in a fire. Marielle and the twins didn’t make it. Dante was the only survivor.” Her voice trembled for a moment before she continued, “He was barely more than a boy himself. And he carried that grief for eighteen years. Alone.”

The woman called Luna Olivia grabs my hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "I am sorry, Dear," she sighs, the sadness she feels thick in her tone. "But Alpha Charles and I arrived too late, and you were the only survivor we were able to get to before the Rogues destroyed the place." "Oh," I say, my body overcome with grief for a community of people I don't remember, but whoever they were, I was a part of them, and now they're all gone. Taking a deep breath and calming my nerves, I look at the adults standing in front of me, not wanting them to see me as weak or scared, even though that's exactly how I feel. "What will happen to me now?"

Now I am calm. “Where are we going again?” “To him.” I smiled and nod. Right… just as we promise. Alpha Eugene It’s been 6 months since the biggest hunter attack happen. Piper replied, already dialling. The phone rang. Once. Twice. Then went to voicemail. She tried again. Straight to voicemail. Her chest tightened. “That’s not normal,” Ember muttered. Piper checked the screen. No signal error, just unreachable. “He never does that,” Piper said quietly. “If he’s busy, he texts. If he can’t talk, he still texts. What if he’s in trouble?” Ember stared at her in disbelief, “Why would an alpha be…ohhh” she said cutting he words short.

I demanded. The tracker repeated, "We were told by our spies from the north that Goldenridge was attacked by a group of rogues last night. It took them a while to ask for backup, recognizing our alliance with them. But when the backup finally came, it was all too late." Dread clawed at me as I asked the question I feared the most. "Are there any survivors?" "The Alpha and his warriors have fallen," the tracker replied gravely. "What's left are a few women and children who managed to hide while the fight was ensuing. They are all being attended to by our men."

Anything to be out of this stale, boring place. The urgency should have ticked me off first. When I arrived to find the Alpha Addams and the members of the Red Crescent pack present, I felt uneasy, but ignored it. As my father's speech continued, I knew that he was making a big announcement. I'd anticipated everything but not…this. “What the hell?!” were my first words the moment I'd processed the announcement. The cheers from the pack members fell silent quickly after while tension thick in the air. Full of disbelief , I stared at the people in front of me. My mother looked stricken, eyes wide and trite.
