Jade cautiously tiptoed until she'd reached the bottom stair, holding the monitor up to her ear. "Sound asleep," she grinned in relief, "Hopefully for a full two hours this time. If this storm doesn't wake her." She could feel the growing breeze sweeping through the front of the house.
"She'll be sleeping through the night before you know it," Paula smiled as she set the table, "What about you? Are you feeling better?"
Jade nodded, walking toward the doorway. The sun was beginning to set on the horizon. "Well, sitting down is still a nightmare, but Marissa said my stitches should be off in about another week."
