Ignoring the growing ache in my own shoulder, I hoisted Anna onto my back, her injured leg dangling limply. The weight was a welcome burden, anchoring me in the howling wind. I took a tentative step, the loose gravel shifting treacherously under my feet. Gritting my teeth, I pushed forward, each step a battle against the treacherous terrain and the worsening weather.
