Sighing lovingly at her antics, the Alpha went back to his paperwork. Alpha Carmichael stiffened as the doors began to open, knowing that he was about to see his daughter and her mates for the last time. A part of him wished he had never sent Elena to The Howling. Maybe if she had stayed home she would still be alive. He took deep breaths trying to calm down as the haunting melody of the Howling Wolf Warriors began their call to the Moon, wailing together as the blended cries heralded the beginning of the service and the serenade for the dead.

The ground continued to tremble beneath our feet as more poured through the forest, bringing with them that vile scent. I froze mid-battle, taking in the sheer number of them. There were too many for us to fight. In seconds we would be overwhelmed. In minutes, we’d all be dead. I had no way to communicate with the other contestants, to tell them that we needed to run and get out of here, so I did the only thing I could think of. Her eyes gleamed molten gold, wide open to the full bleeding curve of the moon now stretching across the heavens. No more hiding. No more pretending the war belonged to someone else. “I am Hollowborn,” she said. The flames hissed in response. “I am Alpha.” The earth pulsed. “I am done waiting.” A final howl ripped from her throat. Not grief this time. Not mourning. Not even fury. It was a command. And in the distance—beyond the towns, beyond the hills, beyond the places where shadows still whispered her name—the scattered packs lifted their heads and listened.

All the muscles in her body had refused to listen to her command at that time. The driver watched in horror as DeLorna fell to the floor when she heard the howl. He knew it was the wolves attacking. There wouldn't have been much panic if it had only been omega wolves that were attacking. But the howl just now was the howl of an Alpha. Though he wasn't sure he could at least tell. If it wasn't the howl of an Alpha DeLorna wouldn't be forced to her knees as she would have heard the howl of their Alpha many times so a random howl other than an Alpha's howl wasn't sufficient enough to make her fall on her knees.

It was the man from my office, the Alpha of Midnight Crescent. He looked a lot rougher than the last time that I had seen him. His greying hair had fallen out in places and he seemed to have aged a couple of decades. He was only a few years older than me. “Alpha?” I was confused, had he stopped the witches, had he figured out who was killing the pups in his pack. “Fuck, you don’t even know my name, do you?” He spits on the ground at my feet “Take these off.” That’s an order. I glare at him, waving my bound wrists at him.

He threw the sword on the floor and it made a dangling noise as it fell,my began to trembling and I felt my legs shaking, goosebumps was all over my body,I pinched myself to wake up from the nightmare but was never one,the alpha chooses to kill someone who has done him no wrong. I held my breath for a while and wished I never met the alpha.

But just when Alex was about to finish him off, a deafening howl tore through the clearing. Alph had returned, his wolf form barreling into Alex with the full force of his rage.
