His words settled quietly in the space between us.
Then, as if sensing the heaviness returning, he shifted his tone.
“But for now,” he continued, gesturing toward the sky, “try not to dwell on it too much. Look at the moon… the stars. They’re bright tonight.”
I followed his gaze.
The sky stretched endlessly above us, dotted with countless stars, their light steady and unwavering. The moon hung low, casting a soft glow across the ocean, turning the waves into shimmering silver.
“They’re doing their best to shine,” he added lightly. “It would be a waste if they couldn’t at least make you feel a little better.”
