Hunter took the book and flipped it open. He flipped through a few pages as if he was trying to find a certain page. "Apparently not." He showed the page to me. "I'm halfway there though."

In a heartbeat, one of them sends Hunter flying through the air as he sends his skeletal hand over his torso. "Hunter!!" I yell, my mouth dropping open as Hunter lands on the nearby Yew tree, the sound of bones cracking rattling my ears. He lands face-first into a gravestone, blood bursting from his nose and mouth. "Ohhh," Hunter groans, rolling to the ground. "Hun..." The words die in the mouth as I see them two steps away from me. My heart leaps as I freeze, wondering what my fate will be. Have we been invaded by aliens in the realm?

He selected a sleek black handgun, checked the magazine, and tucked it into the waistband of his pants at the small of his back. “I’m going to welcome an old friend,” he said darkly. I shivered, but it wasn’t from fear. It was from the sheer, electric intensity of the moment. We weren’t victims anymore. We were the hunters. I walked to the stairs, my head held high. Sebastian Vane had made a fatal error. He thought he was coming to kill a legacy. He was about to find out that the Hunter legacy didn’t die. It just reloaded.

kay, so he gets points for having more skill than I would give a hunter credit. I always figured hunters used whatever bits of magic they picked up to hunt us down and find new inventive ways to kill us. Though I suppose being able to disguise themselves as well as Khalid’s Clark Kent glasses would help them better infiltrate and make stealth kills if their target could recognize them.
