My wolf rose inside me like he wanted to break every bone in that circle. I took a step toward her without thinking. But before I even finished that step— BAM! A sharp, heavy kick slammed right into my stomach. It was like a log of wood swung straight into me. My whole body folded. Air left my lungs. My feet stumbled backward as pain shot through me like fire. I blinked hard. That was the Hunter. I tried to stay steady, tried to remind myself that I promised Sel I would save her, but the Hunter didn’t even give me one second to breathe.

Her foot caught on a root, sending her sprawling to the ground with a sharp thud. The impact knocked the breath from her lungs, and the world spun. She clawed at the dirt, trying to push herself up, but the dizziness was too much. Her arms gave out, her vision dimming at the edges. The last thing she heard before the darkness claimed her was the faint crunch of footsteps—steady, deliberate, and far too close.

The life of a hunter is cruel and short…there was never any room for kindness. Taking a deep breath, I launch into the attack. My kicks and punches coming so quickly, I catch a moment of surprise in his eyes and I feel a trill of excitement. Today, ol’ man. I am going to win today. I press forward as he scrambles to block each attack I throw at him; barely holding his ground. He moves away from me and I smile in triumph as I swing with my right fist. His eyes narrow and he dips below my swing, his own punches landing right in the middle of my stomach. I gasp at the pain ballooning through my body as his leg sweeps under my feet and I land hard on my back.

Leo barks and tries to rip the jacket from my arm. My hand moves quickly, jabbing the blade straight into his heart. His green eyes search me as a trickle of blood runs out the corner of his mouth. Pulling the blade back. Leo drops to his knees. His green eyes fade to grey as he falls forward at my feet. I didn’t even feel bad for my actions. In fact, quite the opposite. Everyone would get what was coming to them!

Arrows sang through the smoke like whispers meant to kill. Jet made a break for it but before he could escape something faster struch him. Thwack!—an arrow nailed him to a wooden beam. He screamed once before another arrow found his throat. The room vanished into smoke. White tendrils coiled around broken pillars. Shadows flickered fast, quiet, merciless. Three figures stepped into the storm like ghosts walking through fire. The first tall, coat snapping at his heels, steel in his eyes didn’t slow. Calvin Hunt. The man whose name made wolves flinch. Custom shotgun in hand, still smoking.

“Why do you run from me? You are my Bride.” "Like I would be with vermin like you," I hissed, crouching low to the ground, getting ready to attack. I pulled my Sais from my thigh holsters. My blades sharpened to perfection, having been used to kill hundreds of vampires in my five hundred years with the order, were thirsty for another kill. “Those pointy things won’t stop me.” He laughed as he lunged for me, I pivoted and dodged his attack, slicing his arm. “Would you stop and just talk to me?” he asked, annoyed as his wounds quickly healed.

"Why is Jonea so sure that my mother was involved in the incident that happened to Miller? In fact, none of the CCTV footage at school showed my mother's involvement. Why did Jonea hurt Aland that day? Although Aland did not admit that he was hurt because of Jonea. But I'm sure Jonea is involved. I could smell Jonea's body in Aland's spilled blood. I believe they were together before Aland was found unconscious with a gash in his stomach that night." Hunter struggled to his feet and walked out of the toilet. "What exactly happened? Once inside, Hunter reversed the car sharply, speeding away from the scene. As they passed the motorcycles and cars belonging to Giovanni’s men, Hunter brought the car to a brief stop. He aimed his gun and fired at two of the motorcycles, hitting their fuel tanks. The bikes exploded instantly, the flames spreading to a nearby car, which also erupted in a fiery blast. Satisfied with the destruction, Hunter hit the gas, driving them away from the chaos.
