The storm continued raging. Lightning split the sky. Thunder shook the island. Yet somehow— that tiny light never wavered. Never disappeared. It simply kept coming. Lily pressed against the window. Trying to see better. Trying to understand. Then another flash of lightning illuminated the ocean. And this time— she saw a figure. A person. Holding the light. Walking across the black beach. Damien drives to a storage unit on the edge of town and unlocks a metal door, revealing a stash of equipment, flashlights, rope, even a second handgun. I stare. “You were ready for this.” “I hoped I’d never need it,” he replies. He hands me a flashlight and a small can of pepper spray. “Stay close to me. No matter what happens, you don’t run off. Understand?” I nod, though fear twists through every nerve. The old lighthouse rises from the cliffs like a jagged tooth, waves crashing below. The storm has moved out to sea, leaving the night raw and sharp. We approach on foot, the path slick with rain. My flashlight beam cuts through the mist.

Chapter 17: Echoes in the Labyrinth The cavern entrance seemed to shrink behind them as Evie and Liam followed the hulking guardian deeper into the labyrinth. The blue light emanating from the Wellspring faded, replaced by the familiar bioluminescent glow of the fungi clinging to the cavern walls. A sense of unease settled in Evie's stomach. They were venturing further into the heart of Aethel than anyone had ever dared before, relying on a creature whose loyalties remained a mystery.

I need a little help here. The map glows for a moment, points toward the bed, and then goes blank again. I walk over to the bed. I pull back the covers and look under the pillows, but nothing. I go to my knees and look under the bed. Beneath the bed, I see a dark brown and black amulet shining at me, waiting for me to take it home. There is also a set of eyeballs looking at me.

She pointed at the round, red paper lanterns I hung just before I was reminded on how I had to be a ‘committee’ in the Full Moon as well. “That’s what in the box,” I replied while quietly stacking the boxes before she realized that they fell down. “Well, that’s wrong! Which box?” She turned around right after I put the last box on top of the stack. “Uhh,” I pointed at any random box, “That one, I guess.” “RONNY!” She wailed again. This time, a boy who was drinking a glass of water beside the bleachers, spurted out the water out of surprise. “YOU BOUGHT THE WRONG LANTERNS!”

Maybe she was on an acid mushroom trip, or went down the rabbithole with Alice. Nick led Madchen out the backdoor of the house, to a walkway that led to the ocean. She let out a gasp as she observed the view. The water was completely calm, and a beautiful turquoise color. It was around three feet deep, she surmised, and clear to the bottom. Various fish could be seen swimming around them, including a few small sharks and vibrant green and blue parrotfish. Madchen was in awe, she had never seen such a beautiful sight, and her eyes lit up with wonder.

“Not my death. My inheritance.” A soft knock sounded at the door. She stiffened, senses flaring, but relaxed when Liam stepped inside. “I thought you might still be here,” he said quietly. He approached the table, careful not to touch anything, his gaze scanning the spread of knowledge with an expression that mixed awe and unease. “You’ve found something.” “Yes,” she said. “But not enough.” “That’s usually how dangerous quests begins.” He said jokingly She smiled faintly. “Well I've never been good at resisting bad things"

A hought fishes through my mind at first I try to deny it but it sticks out like a lighthouse in a storm. I'm finally home.
