The choir prefect pointed out. " One, two, three, go!" "On the first day of Christmas, my true love said to me..." We sang up until the twelfth day and it was time to sing the last verse. "On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 12 Drummers Drumming, Eleven Pipers Piping, Ten Lords a Leaping, Nine Ladies Dancing, Eight Maids a Milking, Seven Swans a Swimming, Six Geese a Laying, Five Golden Rings,

exclaims the elder maid from a distance. "Yes, I'm coming!" I can't stop putting on a happy face. I'm not sure, but it's an odd feeling. Nothing hurts, as it has never hurt yet. At this moment, I feel loved and comfortable. I help her decorate the room with expensive garlands and stockings while singing the Christmas song, Hallelujah. I can't keep my lips closed because I can't stop smiling. Christmas holds a bittersweet memory for me—a recall of my mom, whom I love.

They’re both so excited, it’s their first-time seeing Leland. “Mom, dad, I can’t believe you’re here!” I say running up to hug them. “Well, it wouldn’t be a good Christmas Eve if we weren’t together.” She says and hugs me. “Deck the halls with boughs of holly Fa la la la la, la la la la (fa la la la la, la la la la) 'Tis the season to be jolly Fa la la la la, la la la la (fa la la la la, la la la la)

Elara shouted, grabbing my hand and raising it as she screamed. I let out a chuckle and screamed alongside her, but my mind wasn't there because I was still trying to focus on the song. The words looped in my mind as I tried to figure out the meaning behind them. It was a song about Santa Claus coming to town, and I didn't need any deep meaning or message from it. What the hell was she trying to tell me that she couldn’t? I inhaled deeply, taking the thoughts about the song off my mind as we reached the massive iron-bound doors of the pavilion.

But the song he was hearing was uplifting his mood - “Give love on Christmas Day…No greater gift is there than love.” “What beautiful lyrics.” Polly thought. He stayed there for a while and listened to some more songs playing in the background. “I think I’m gonna love Christmas.”

That night, we all sat in the living room watching a classic Christmas movie. Onscreen, in The Polar Express, Santa slid down a chimney with his giant sack of gifts, smiling at the children. I watched the screen, but all I could picture was the twisted figure Sophie described. Spider fingers, too many joints, a tilted head, standing perfectly still. Suddenly, it hit me. A gaping hole in Sophie's story.

“Babe. You're beautiful.” She smiled and swung her shoulder length, blunt cut, blonde hair that I'd chosen for her to make. “Thanks sweetheart.” I placed my hand on her back and hugged her. “Did you enjoy the turkey?” She nodded. “Let's go.” As we headed out. She asked, “Are we going to the office now?” I pinched her cheek. “No, babe. There is still one more thing left to do.” She raised a brow. “And I guess I'm not allowed to ask you what it is?” She asked.

They reached Tara’s car, and as soon as they got in, Tara squeezed Melody’s hand. As she got into the car, she made a silent prayer, she didn't believe in Christmas no more, but she was hoping for a Christmas miracle. The twelve days of Christmas song was blasting in the car. On the fourth day of Christmas my true love sent to me… “Cheating on a platter of gold.” How thoughtful.

“So now you find my music to be offensive. That is rude''. Eh said to her but he changed the song anyway. After that the car ride was a little less tense. They drove for an hour through the forest before she began to see bright light appearing before her in the distance. Her eyes immediately lit up at the sight and she let out a loud gasp from her lips as they came to a small town. She took in the small streets that were strong with lights and the children that played in the park as well as the adults that moment around without a care in the world. She found herself enchanted by the sight that was before her. “They are celebrating something called christmas.” He said to her and she only nodd

I bid farewell to their happy faces and that's how I'm going to remember them . • Now every Christmas, I sit near the fireplace with mom and dad. I wear the red bow with reindeers on it that gammy gave me on my last Christmas at their place; and I sing. I sing "Last Christmas" through the bottom of my heart and picture gammy and pappy's smiling face. I embrace what's good.
