Alex reassures me with a gentle smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners in amusement. As I watch Alex, I can't help but notice how incredibly handsome he looks when he smiles. It's a good strategy and means she isn't just focused on me due to my gold status rank. I might ask her to dance solely based on that fact alone.

“But I really am and I want to tell you that-” His smile stopped me dead in my tracks. It was such a slow, easy smile that somehow completely transformed him. His eyes sparkled warmly and his features softened into something comforting but still powerful. The long jagged scar that marked the side of his face almost vanished against the brilliance of his smile.
