Raising my hands up I prayed to Allah. Ya Allah whatever insecurities I'm feeling make it easier for me to deal with. Ya Allah give me strength and increase my Iman, guide me through the good path. I stayed on the prayer mat for almost one hour praying and I feel so much better after telling my problems to Allah. Prayer is the key to any problem. After folding the mat, I laid myself on the soft bed letting sleep take over me with so much on my mind. ** I stared at the pile of work on my desk. Today is going to be a long day.

I sit straight, and smile to the working placing a new set of viand in the center aisle. My glance reaches to the crowd lining up in silence as each of them is getting inside the mess hall. These must be students having their retreats here. Then, a facilitator with a cross necklace stands in front and starts to instruct the retreatants to rise as prayer for the meal will be graced. “In the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the Holy Spirit,” he motions his gesture, and recites the prayer, eyes closed.

She pretended she did not know it. The morning prayer was the same as yesterday. It was still headed by Sister Rene. When it should sound reassuring, comforting, and enlightening, the prayer sound stiff, loud, and forced. The only thing that was making every one stay awake was the eyes of Sister Rene. She was glaring telling everyone don’t you dare sleep while I am talking.

The next day I do my morning routine of prayers and exercise, and after breakfast I drive the children to school. I am wearing a brown sweater, wide leg trousers, orange tote bag, an orange hajib and leopard heels. I drop the kids at school and drive to the office. I have been working all day, and now I am on my way to pick the kids up from school. I prayed Dhuhr (Afternoon) prayer before leaving the office. As I am walking out of my office I see Fatima and Emma walking towards me like they have a bone to pick with me. I hope I have done nothing wrong.

Please bless this food to give us strength in our bodies, and bless this day for all of us. It’s only 9:30, but school starts at 7:00, and I get up earlier for work. I go and make sure my door is locked and quickly pray before I am in a deep slumber.

My unending cravings for pleasure, peace, and bliss. I struggled to keep myself awake as I sat up on the bed, the alarm was still ringing in my ears. I stretched my hand to the nightstand and turned it off. I sighed. "Why do I have to go to work today?" Kathy was already up and if my guesses were right, she was making breakfast as usual. I breathed into my prayer hands, staring at my sleepy eyes and ruffled hair in the mirror.

Life has for you a special place convenient to you. Begin afresh. For this is not the last but first day for you. Plan today. Plan to work today. Working hands are always for praise.
