The golden letters shone brightly. Ingrid began to recite an ancient prayer passed down through generations. The language of that ancient prayer hadn’t even been used for hundreds of years. Yet for some reason, Lilith quietly understood every word. The light around them grew brighter. Lucas reached out his hand toward Lilith. “No matter what happens, look at me,” he whispered. Lilith nodded. Slowly, she placed both her hands in Lucas’s. That warm touch instantly calmed her entire body. She no longer felt afraid. All that remained was certainty. Lucas smiled gently.
