“Yeah, well, I never had one, so I’m always curious. What is it, a cat? Dog?”
A bit shyly, Anna said, “A ball python, actually. She’s almost five feet long.”
“Holy shit,” I blurted out. I suddenly had a vivid picture of Anna going around whatever mansion she probably lived in with a constrictor snake wrapped around her arm like a scaly bracelet. “See, that’s already the most interesting thing I know about you. What’s your snake’s name?”
Anna blushed as red as a fire hydrant. “It’s – look, I was a kid when I named her, and I thought it was funny – it’s Disco, okay? Disco Ball Python.”
