We only need to sever your connection with the child!" Suddenly, another sound cut across the battlefield—not chanting, but a low, piercing whistle that rose in pitch. It was on another side, behind the coven. A third witch, perched on a raised rock, played a strange, obsidian flute. When she blew into it, the sound seemed to bypass all material boundaries and reached directly into the mind, a psychic assault designed to baffle and daze.
