With Rowan completely pinned and disarmed, Zephyr delivered a final, devastating strike to Rowan's chest, breaking his sternum and forcing him down to his knees. Rowan collapsed into the snow, gasping heavily for air, unable to move his shattered body. The remaining rogue wolves, seeing their leader defeated, turned and fled blindly into the dark forest, pursued by Callum and our victorious pack guards.

Victorious. Walking back to the heart of our camp, I couldn't help but notice the joyful faces around us. Young children tumbled and played, their energy contagious. And as the pups, babies born during their parents on their wolf forms, caught sight of me, their Luna, their tails wagged furiously, tongues lolling in canine grins. Their excitement was palpable, their loyalty unwavering. I crouched down, allowing the pups to swarm around me, nuzzling and licking in affectionate frenzy. I couldn't resist myself from saving him. "Are you okay, baby?" I asked him while wiping his tears. "I can't find mom." He sobbed hardly. "Don't worry, I'll help you in finding her. Now stop crying. You are a brave wolf." I said. He nodded while looking at me with his doe eyes. "You might have saved him, but who is going to save you?" The leader of rogue group growled. I picked up the pup in my arms and started running away. I tripped on my foot and fell down. My head hit the stone nearby.

The girl wasn’t that young, and it’s not unusual for a pup to go out for a late-night run, but this female was panicking. Jericho and Gina were still adjusting to the emotional shift of being new parents and felt compassion for her, so I told them to send out some extra patrols. I assumed the girl would show up at home within the hour, but when she didn’t, I started to worry a bit myself. ‘Alpha,’ I heard Jericho’s voice in the mind-link, ‘One of the patrols has returned with some news about the missing pup.’ ‘Have them report to my office immediately. I expect to see you there as well.’

He wasn’t feeling good himself, but he had the Captain and the guards to care for him while the little puppy has no one. He believed the guards did not abandon her, as he had heard along the walls while he ventured here. But he thought that she must’ve feel uncomfortable being around big humans without her master around. So he came by to accompany her. He’s not as big as the humans here. He has no power to hurt her too. When the small puppy didn’t budge, Fred decided to dance funnily. He bent his body a bit and danced weirdly. He wanted to make sure she was watching him, and he hoped it would cheer her up and make her think that he is not a threat.

We continued talking for a while until Mika came in. "Hey baby, how's our pups doing?" I glanced at Paige, who looked confused when he called them pups, but she didn't say anything. Mika had been referring to them as pups most of the time since I told him that's what my people called our young. He thought it was the cutest thing and that it fit with our rescue, which was named 'Blue's Wildlife Rescue Center' after a wolfdog that Mika had owned growing up.

Jasper looks suspicious, but kisses her hand and waits to hear what she has to say. “Dad- uh, I-I mean, Mister Cirillo bought us a puppy to be friends with our wolves. His name is Mister Happy. He’s a Saint Barnyard and still in our bedroom.” Kara pouts to match Katie. Jasper suppresses a laugh at her mispronunciation. “He’ll be sad without us.”
