She sat up slightly, her eyes fixed on the model. With a beam of light shining down, everyone in the audience could see the garment adorning the model. It was a deep purple gown, crafted with overlapping layers. The inner layer was satin while the outer layer draped in a gradient of blue and purple chiffon. The combination of light and dark hues resembled ink strokes on canvas, creating a splendid yet subdued effect. Soon though, their conversation was interrupted as both vampires turned to their left. A girl was coming towards them, she had deep blue hair, the colour so rich, it almost looked black. However it was clear it wasn't natural, the colour was slightly faded at her roots. She had piercing, pale blue eyes and sharp upward arched eyebrows. Her lips were pursed and tinted black with lipstick and her fangs stuck out lightly. Vampire.

She strains the blue mixture into a glass vile. "How will we know when it's ready?" I inspect the blue velvet liquid. "It will turn dark blue. The color of the night sky."

More veins stretched downward beneath his collar. "What is that?" I asked, rushing toward him. But the veins were spreading from the source of the injury. At the back of his neck, deep claw marks had turned a dark purplish blue. I could not even begin to understand what I was looking at.

A surreal glow from below grabbed her attention and upon glancing down, the fascinating scenery put her in awe. Blue veins stretched from her toes and into the floor, branching out into other veins that spread out across the whole floor and walls, going beyond the still curtains. The same situation occurred with Bjorn’s feet and as the snaky blue veins dotted the ceiling like the branches of a tree, the small platform in front of Mel glowed a soft ashen colour, shifting the shimmering blue to a light grey.

Surely there are colors like green and blue, too, but purple is different. Purple was not natural. It’s the mix of the reddest red and the bluest blue. Even if you get it directly from your parents, it requires both of your parents to be purple, or the color would easily tip to reddish or blue-ish. But the thing was, the color was part of your soul, a strong reflection of who you are, so it was rare that two colors on the opposite end of the spectrum would want to be together. Not impossible, just unlikely.

Why…just why…did I forget that I am not supposed to forget anything? It was my fault. The tips of my fingers tingle. The surge of strange energy pulses under my skin. As I look down at my arms, I find my veins glowing blue. Instead of getting surprised, I find myself staring at them until the color becomes brighter.

"Just look." I sigh, but my eyes find them quickly. Since they're the only color on my face, it's almost hard to ignore them. My irises have a distinct shade of pale magenta due to an even mixture of pale red and purple. My eyes seem a little redder than normal in the candlelight. I can tell because they seem more purple when I look in the mirror during the day.

I log into my job's attendance app and request a personal day. After I shower, I look into my eyes. The longer I stare, the darker the mirror becomes. Inside, I see several black shadows standing beside me. I turn to face them, but nothing's there. Back facing the mirror, they become one and move directly behind me. Once they're no longer visible, I gaze deep into my soul. My dark brown pupils appear black. The longer I stare, the more I see this blue hue. It's a lovely shade of extra dark blue, outlining the brown.

He growled in my head, urging me to move on to the next victim. I took a thorough look at the next person who lay lifelessly on the ground. The blue dye on his black hair had become an undertone of red as a result of the dried blood that matted his hair. His eyes, unlike the blonde's, were partially gorged out, and his face was contorted in a permanent expression of fear. Black veins crawled up his neck. I used my hands to trace the veins down, and I noticed they were spread all over his body, just like the blonde.
