She stepped closer. "He also raised you." Grayson looked away. "I don't know what to do with that." Before Savannah could answer, a scout came sprinting into the courtyard. Covered in blood. "Alpha!" Mason turned instantly. "Report." The scout struggled for breath. "The eastern pass—" He stopped. Horror filling his face. "What?" The scout looked directly at Grayson. Then at Elias. Then delivered the words. "The Prophet isn't coming alone." Silence. Elias went still.

Figures in white coats moving with purpose. The scout threw Brady aside like he weighed nothing and dove for the portal, its movements desperate now, programmed with survival instinct. Axel was faster. His dagger caught the scout's leg mid-jump, the flaming blade slicing clean through at the ankle. Mechanized fluid sprayed in an arc, hissing where it hit stone. The scout tumbled through the portal, screaming that electronic scream. But the portal didn't close. For a few precious seconds, we could see through. See where it had come from. See the heart of administrator operations.

The scent of Rain and Burnt Pine—Kael’s scent—was currently underscored by the cloying, acidic smell of the necrotic poison in his marrow. "Mommy? It might take you some time to handle the blue eggs and their poison, and we need time to search for the black eggs."

He gives me a worried look so I mindlinked him. ‘It’s okay, she’s not dangerous.’ I tell him and he furrowed his brows but nods. I looked over to Syria’s direction. ‘She’s a shifter, a dragon shifter,’ I finish my words and Hunter grabbed my arm and looked me in the eye. ‘Are you certain?’ He asked through mindlink. I nodded in reply and he let go of my arm, glancing at the woman named Syria. ‘How?’ He asked.
