The vault seemed to hold its breath. Then the black pool convulsed violently, and from its center rose a shape unlike the others. Not Mia’s reflection, nor any of theirs, but something vast and terrible. A towering figure of shadow, its form shifting and indistinct, crowned with jagged spikes of violet crystal. Its eyes burned with malice, and its voice shook the cavern. “You dare claim mastery over yourself?” it roared. “Then face the truth: you are nothing without me. I am the Queen’s shadow, the heart of her will. And I will devour you whole!”

This stranger made him look like a mere schoolboy. He seems to absorb all the darkness in the room and extradite it in the form of pulsing power. The kind that promised to go deep within your mind and expel your darkest secrets. The same power that threatened to rip the skin off your bones if you get too close. And as I stare at him, all the breath leaves me.

"It's an immortality spell." She shook her head. "Not likely. Immortality is a myth. You'd have to be a god to do that. Is the darkness a god?" "I don't think so." Use it wisely, for the darkness is eternal.” A shockwave of energy exploded from the fissure, sending a cascade of crimson light spiraling around Selene. The air vibrated with power as she felt the curse infuse her very being, igniting her magic to unprecedented levels. The shadow veins pulsed like breathing serpents. She lay still. And then her lips parted. But it wasn’t her voice that came out. “Choose,” the darkness muttered through her mouth. “Save her… or save yourself.” Her eyes opened And they glowed black. I went cold. She looked at me not like my love, not like my light But like the queen of the picture. And she whispered one final, icy word: “Submit.” Dark power burst from her skin. The darkness was not taking me. It was claiming me.
