“Three!” Greg called out from a distance, and I looked in his direction to see his head peeking out of the bushes.
“I know it’s not true,” I looked back at Bloom and saw there were now tears in her eyes.
“I was afraid that this would end,” she said, and I wiped at her eyes with my fingers.
“What would?”
“This thing that’s blooming between us. I don’t want to lose it. There was that issue with Ray, and now with your brother,” she said as cried, and I realized that her fears were right. The former me would have escalated this issue by now and reacted negatively.
