A gentle, rolling movement, as though something small and alive was stirring, turning, pressing against the walls of my stomach from within.
I froze, breath catching.
Hunger, I told myself. Dehydration. Hallucination from the poison. I hadn’t eaten in days... maybe longer. My body was starving, shutting down, playing tricks.
But the flutter came again, stronger this time. Distinct. Undeniable.
Something moving inside me.
