I stood on his feet, alert and poised, waiting for anything that might have chosen to happen but something like that -the thing I was expecting to happen- never happened.
Instead what I saw was a common thing, as common as the woods themselves were. It was a white and brown rabbit streaking quickly across in underbrush in the woods, its speed an intention that he or she -because I did not know whether it was a female or male rabbit- was hurrying off to somewhere, a home or a family of similar furry animals like him or herself.
