The scent of the rabbits continues to taunt me, tempting me with the promise of nourishment. As I shut my eyes, I am immediately greeted by the rhythmic thumping and hopping sounds of rabbits. The familiar scent fills my nostrils, and I quickly realize that the alpha has generously provided me with live rabbits. With cautious excitement, I cautiously emerge from my cozy nest and take in the sight of countless rabbits scurrying around my newfound sanctuary. My heart leaps with joy, and I can't help but let out a delighted yip as I embark on the thrilling pursuit of food.

I had made it to the final occupied cell and could only see a form curled up on a large pet bed. "Wake up Scotty and meet your new doctor," Brian said bitterly with a knock of his baton against the bars. My mouth fell open as a man's face and upper torso came towards us on four furry dog legs. He was wearing jogging shorts and was the oddest looking thing I'd ever seen. He was also the happiest and had me smiling as I watched him tilt his human head and make faces at Brian. "Scotty is an Adlet and was caught stealing chickens from a farm in Nebraska," Brian informed me and I nodded.

A long, measuring look. “You did right,” he said. That night, half the ranch gathered near the fire pit for a barbecue-slash-beer-slash-dumb-reasons-to-yell celebration. Apparently it was Old Man Briggs’ birthday—sixty-something, grumpy as hell, but beloved like a barn cat that refused to die.

His wolf senses sharpened instantly; he moved in front of her, his arm wrapping protectively around her shoulders as his gaze swept the hedges. Then, out from the brush, hopped a tiny brown rabbit. Lara’s breath escaped in a startled laugh, her hand pressed to her chest. “Oh—it’s just a rabbit…” Crane exhaled, tension melting from his shoulders, though his arm stayed around her. His protectiveness was instinct now. With her eyes shining, Lara slipped from his side and crouched carefully. The little creature’s nose twitched as it sniffed the air, and Lara extended her hand slowly. Her voice softened to a whisper. “Hey there… don’t be scared.”

I went to my horse, mounted and rode away still fuming. After an hour of hunting, I went back with a fox and a small rabbit. Zane had two small rabbits and a pheasant. Mr arrogant had three small rabbits and his friend as well. “I think it’s clear who won this round.” Zane said proudly. “Just count the two rabbits from him, the third one we hit it together so, it doesn’t count.”

Some people had barged in. "Where are you bitch?" A voice snarled. Nanny? Was she alright? "This house is off limit my dear Wolfy" Nanny said holding incense with her left hand. "I hear this scares you ugly creatures away. Leave this house now" Carly removed her mask revealing her yellow colored eyeball. It just had a tint of black in the middle of the yellow. She raised her hand up and a great wind blew Nanny to a corner throwing the incense aside.

I nodded, trying to steady my voice. “Last night was Halloween. Our boss, William Zoo, booked out a rural horror-themed escape room. He said anyone who made it through without screaming would get ten thousand. “There were nine of us. After we went in…” I went through everything—the layout, mechanisms, and performance of the scarecrow character with the oversized pumpkin head.
