She stood behind them, holding her hand on the dagger. Left alone, Deja threw off her cloak, looking at the statue. Slowly she knelt down so that her hooded face was higher than her head. "Goddess," Deya said softly. She fell silent. She had no idea if the alien deity would hear her. Few of the Anmar worshiped the moon goddess. Though she had a temple in Taaldor, almost no one visited it. Deya has never been there, and even more so she never prayed to this goddess. There was Dhara, the Goddess of the Earth, seated beside Sephtis, God of Death. To his right sat Amora, the Goddess of Love, and Nyssa, the Goddess of Life.

Her long, flowing robes shimmered like liquid moonlight, and her eyes burned with an otherworldly intensity. Raven scrambled back, her heart hammering in her chest. “Who… who are you?” she stammered. The woman gazed at her with an expression both gentle and powerful. “My name is Chandra,” she said, her voice resonant. “Goddess of the Moon. Protector of wolves.” Raven’s mouth went dry. Chandra stepped forward, her gaze shifting between Raven and Damien. “The fate of all shifters depends on you and your unborn child, Raven. Without you… wolves will be extinct forever.”

“No. That’s impossible.” “What does it mean?” Aria whispered. Dax swallowed. “That is the crest of the First Mother.” Aria blinked—completely lost. “The goddess?” “No,” Dax replied. “Older.” The keeper's voice echoed like thunder through the forest. “She was the first Luna.
