The Wolf's Game
It is high, broken, and coming from above.
We look up.
Renna stands on the highest point of the castle roof, barefoot, her dress torn and flapping in the wind. Her hair whips around her face like a dark halo. For a moment, she looks like part of the storm itself.
“Renna!” I shout.
Her head snaps toward me. Her eyes are wide, pupils dilated. “She won’t stop,” she sobs. “She won’t stop whispering.”
Therin is pacing the ground beneath her. Running his hands through his hair frantically. “She has been screaming all night. I can’t make her stop.”
