Not even breadcrumbs. The silence after their words felt louder than before. I turned my gaze toward Raven. She leaned forward slowly, resting her forearms on the table. Her dark hair was pulled into a low bun, strands loose around her temples. Even in stillness, she looked exhausted—more so than any of us. Her eyes were ringed with sleeplessness, her voice barely above a whisper when she spoke. “I haven’t found anything either,” she admitted. “I’ve followed every lead I could think of. I even reached out to some of my mother’s old contacts.”

The wolf peered out again, ears twitching, still oddly amused. Leah stood up on her own. No help. No hesitation. She brushed her dress once, as if dust mattered more than blood. Then she looked toward the stone. And spoke lightly. "Recognize me, Your Highness?" The voice came from above the rock. Leah's gaze lifted. A girl sat cross-legged on top of the stone, perfectly balanced, as if she had been there the entire time. Red dress. Messy confidence. Surly expression. Mia Mooncrest.

Making me feel like i just asked the worst question. "Well", he said his voice going back to how it usually was, the voice that would make a stranger run for the hills. "Well trust me they're way more places to kill yourself here than in New York", i said matter factly trying to lighten his mood. I hope to help Raven understand she is more, I know she is far more capable than she believes, and has more to offer than death. “I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to stop death, I get I’m the Goddess of Death, but if I could stop death, you and Jonathan wouldn’t have died, and I wouldn’t have lost our baby,” Raven whispers the last bit as a tear rolls down her cheek, I wrap my arms around her and our pups, hating seeing the pain she is in. “I don’t even want to know if I want to stop death, considering it would mean I failed you, I failed our baby,” she sobs, then protectively curls up around Gunnar and Roan, doing her best to keep them latched on.

He ranted, standing next to me protectively. “There would be no need for you to be rogues”. Wayne chimed in as he stood up and looked at my father and me. “Lundberg would be lucky to have you. A respected palace guard, a hardworking mother and two nightwolves! You’ll always be welcome to have a home in my pack”. Just beyond it was a small patch of trees and a gravel path. That’s when I saw her. A woman in black leaned against a tree, her posture too casual, too calculated. It was as if she had been waiting for me. She motioned towards me, stopping right in front of me. “You must be Tessa,” she said, pushing off the trunk. She was stunning—tall, dark eyeliner, crimson lips, and a silver pendant that shimmered in the sun. Something about her felt… off. “I’m Raven,” she said with a chilling smile. “Ryder’s ex.”

She needed to get them out without the hunters knowing, we planned with a few other wolves including Jace the traitor to sneak out and leave them here to deal with the two angry packs closing in. It went without a hitch, except the fact Raven somehow woke up twice during the journey. She should have been knocked out like Zach for the entire time with just one dose of those drugs.
