Raven finally looked at me, and that look told me everything before he even spoke.
“The name in Maren’s correspondence,” he said, voice controlled, “it belongs to someone who has been inside the palace recently.”
I set my fork down slowly, “Who.”
Another pause, longer this time, like they were deciding how much of the truth I was allowed to hear at once.
Raven answered anyway, “Callum Thorne.”
The name landed with nothing attached to it in my head.
Nothing.
Just empty space.
“I do not know that name,” I said immediately.
