I scream holding onto the fur blanket as tight as I can feeling it being pulled off of me. “Raven let go! You’re not keeping it!” Rebecca growls firmly pulling the blanket away and I shake my head with my jaw clinched feeling anger like I have never felt. “No, it’s mine! He gave it to me,” I cry trying my hardest to rip it from her hands but she won’t let go. “He shouldn’t have been here! Raven you’re not to see him again if you smell his scent again you come home to Dad or I. You are not keeping this,” Rebecca nearly screams ripping the blanket from my hands making Dad stand and Liliana move by me.

Everyone had their eyes covered in a reflex. Raven was on the ground, thrown away. Maddie was kneeling on one knee, bent over. Her hand held the staff, the red hair was on fire, and her eyes were bright green. On the ground in front of her was the crystal that had come from Raven. The black crystal was pyramid-shaped and sparkled attractively. It beckoned those who had magic to come to it and feed it. The coven wanted to get closer, as did Esmee and Rodolf, attracted by its power.

Metal breast plates folded inside the sphere of death and goo. Once Raven was satisfied she let the spell go and the blood splashed all over her and everyone near. The clanking of the breast plates echoed in the silence. Out of the edges the band of soldiers from Scotland came raging forward. Raven lifted her arms high above her head and then threw her hands back down towards the earth. The soldiers rose up and slammed into the ground. Many didn’t get back up.

“Enough!” Every eye turned to the high platform. The Elder’s gaze cut like steel. His voice thundered like a storm. “Clara—you’ve hidden long enough. But you cannot deceive me. Your blood is not Sinclair’s. You belong to Ravenclaw!”
