It was the perfect night for dying in your sleep. Raven was hooded, wearing a long and thick black robe that hid his body features. He was walking majestically without any company, with a smile of success on his face. He had killed the second of his ten remaining step-siblings yesterday—practically driven up to her shabby house in a small California village and killed her peacefully.

“I’m done being in the dark.” Aiden stood slowly, crossing to the far wall. He pulled down an old map—torn at the edges, covered in strange marks. “This town,” he said, pointing to a crooked black symbol near the center, “Ravenwood—it was built on the bones of something ancient. A rift between worlds. A place where the wild things crawl through if the veil thins too much.” Evelynn stared at him. “You mean like… the fire? The monsters?” He nodded. “It doesn’t happen often. Maybe once every hundred years. But when it does, something or someone gets chosen. Marked.”

Though, she kept a polite front. "Um..." Her teeth caught her lower lip, an unconscious act as her eyes scanned the shelf. I looked at her lips longer than I should have, and my mouth went dry. "These series are actually my favorites." She pointed to a stack. "The Ravenhood Trilogy by Kate Stewart. T—They were so good I read them in two days. T—These are good as well." She went ahead to point at three more series. That was fifteen books in total. She fumbled through the motion, all nerves and uncertainty.

River’s Point of View It’s been months since Raven vanished, just up and disappeared like she never existed. The earth opened up and swallowed her whole, hiding her from me. As I read the report given to me by my best tracker and investigator, Raven was missing. I suspect she went back to the university and to her best friend Hennessy. She said she was with her and drunk in the club. She offered to take her home but she refused saying she can manage it. But after that, she disappeared.

Thunder rattled the windows of the compound, and the wind howled through the trees. I found Raven in her room. She was sitting by the window, watching the lightning illuminate the mountain peaks. "News travels fast," I said, leaning against the doorframe. I walked into the room, the scent of her settling my restless wolf. "He’s a fire-hybrid, Raven. Just like you’re ice."

“This isn’t a matter of what you want, Damien. The covenant was sealed under the Moon itself. Breaking it would mean war.” “Let them threaten war,” I snapped. “She’s unconscious, Orion. They don’t get to claim her while she’s lying powerless in a bed.” Rowan ran a hand through his hair, pacing. “You’re telling us Raven’s entire life was decided before she even knew who she was?” “Yes,” Orion said. “The Nightshroud pack didn’t bother about it anymore because she was supposed to be dead. The sound of my heels clicking against the marble floor was the only thing keeping me grounded as I walked into the dimly lit nightclub. All the scientists are killed and the lab is burned down to the ground. The Raven guards took the kids back to their homes. When each kid is being handed over to their parents, the gratitude that was shining brightly in their eyes made everyone's heart swell with pride. They know they did the right thing. They are now more grateful to Raphael than ever. Their loyalty now solely belongs to the Raven Prince, whom they fondly call as 'Boss '.
