Your presence means a lot to me, " She managed to force a smile. Her eyes were red and puffy as a result of crying so much. "It's nothing, dear," Madam Scarlett smiled at her. "We'll leave now," Herald told her as they got on their feet. "Thank you so much for attending, " Caitlyn thanked them again. Madam Scarlett stretched out her hands for a hug.

He pushed me backwards gently and he caught Sabrina. “Stop it” he said, sternly, his jaw ticking. “Both of you,” he added. “Xander…” his mother trailed off and he turned to her. “She washes dishes at a cheap diner and works at a salon. Is that really who you want to make the Luna of Deathshade pack?” She asked, and I clenched my fists behind Xander. “Yes. A queen who works as hard as she can to achieve what she wants and doesn't just get handed everything like a spoiled child” he said, obviously taking a jab at Sabrina.

I opened the pouch. Inside was a high-frequency disruptor—a device designed to fry synthetic nervous systems. "They're coming for the mother, Elena," Sarah said, her eyes boring into mine. "Not the child. Make your choice." Outside, the first explosion rocked the North Wing, and the floor tilted beneath my feet. Wind shrieked between them. Above, the constellations blurred, as if afraid to witness what came next. “She is not your key,” Zara said evenly. “She is my daughter.” Rael raised a gauntleted hand. Around them, the battlefield rippled with invisible pressure. Stones split. Wolves howled in the distance—then fell silent. The Vale itself waited.

It held an actual steel blade that gleamed with silver light. "Get behind me!" Liam roared, drawing his own weapon from a table nearby. The wraith moved faster than my eyes could follow. Its blade clashed against Liam's while Cade lunged from the side, his own weapon flashing, but the wraith was quickly overpowering them. I backed toward the wall, my heart in my throat. I needed to do something and not just stand and watch. My hand fumbled for the dagger Ronan had given me, though what good a small blade would do against this nightmare, I had no idea.

I murmur her name, “Blair.” Blade glances back to me for a moment with a deep frown. I don’t know if he thought I said his name or what, but he wasn’t happy right now. Blair gets off of the wolf with wide eyes and she begins to walk towards me, stumbling as she does, and says, “Raya! Oh my god, I can’t believe I found you.” Blade blocks my body from her view and demands, “Stay back.” The wolf instantly shifts, fully nude as he moves between Blade and Blair and says, “Stand down, vamp. She means no harm.”
