Soft golden sunlight filtered through the floor-to-ceiling glass walls of the villa, painting the silk sheets in warm hues of amber and rose. The tropical morning air was fresh after last night’s storm, carrying the clean scent of rain-washed palms and salty ocean breeze. Birds called distantly from the lush gardens, but inside Damian’s private sanctuary, the only sounds that mattered were Elena’s soft, sleepy sighs and the low, rumbling growl building in Damian’s chest.

Tonight, was the night. Alpha Hardin ran through the streets looking for the fight. He was able to end the lives of five scattered wolves before encountering the heart of the battle. All around him his town was in flames and the lives of his pack, his family were taken away. No matter how hard each and every wolf fought, they all went down. The only members of the Midnight pack that were spared that night were the young children who were offered a chance to join the Blood Moon pack. Only ten of the twenty children accepted, the rest met the same fate as their parents.

Mountain's feature softened and he was about to say something to Joseph when the girl shouted, "Incoming!" Mountain was fast. Extremely fast for a large person. He came at Joseph like a blur and tackled him to the ground. A jumbled vision of foliage and trees and bushes, before he felt himself slammed against the ground. ADY It's almost midnight, but our town and maybe even other places still don't have power. Even though the storm was terrible, Granny's radio, which must have been around my age and ran on batteries, was still working while we watched the news. The storm has completely flooded many locations, making them unreachable. The storm didn't bring wind, but it did bring water and rain that didn't stop for 9 hours. I was on the bed, looking at the candle on the table next to me.

The first idea that came to my mind was that he would try and attack me, rip my throat out or something equally bloody. I was surprised when he took a deep breath, then stepped away from me before picking up the shovel and digging again. “This is going to be one long night.” I heard him mutter. "The Moon Goddess sure has a funny way of punishing me.” I believe I wasn't supposed to hear the last part, but I did. For the next ten minutes, there was nothing but silence. The only sound was that of the occasional wind blowing the remnant dried leaves of autumn. The sound of the shovel going through the dirt of the grave irked me, got under my skin.

“Midnight has dropped his swords as well and is trying his best to block Dragunov’s attacks. With such speed, I can hardly tell if he is successful.” Even with the barrier’s time slowing ability, they were still moving very fast. They were like a blur and it was hard to make out what was happening. Midnight managed to push Matthew away and retrieve his swords before jumping back in to attack. Matthew also summoned two swords out of thin air and was fighting on par with Midnight. Imbuing his swords with lightning spells, Midnight created some room to breathe and even scratched Matthew’s chest.

The intensity of his stare that she can still vividly recall inside her head. “I have some business nearby.” Finally, Midnight briefly replied. “But you do not have any business here.” Rio lifted her head. “What do you mean I don’t have any business here?” Midnight raised his eyebrows. “I—I’ve read some articles,” Rio responded. “Your company lies on Neuvo Leon.” Is she going to profess how she had made a research about Midnight? She expected for him to be shocked, but an Alpha male like a Del Fierro himself do not get caught off guard so easily. ‘stead of, Midnight’s lips protruded into a sly smile that made him appeared dangerously handsome.

Jesse stares at his little mate for a moment and then huffs out a laugh, shaking his head and taking her hand. “All right, Mids. Do your work.” Everyone else again shuffles around and holds hands or otherwise makes contact with their neighbor so they can all travel together, quietly waiting, expectant. Jesse watches closely as Midnight exhales a long breath, looking around at the Land of Darkness as if she’s saying goodbye to it. Jesse squeezes her hand and she looks up at him.
