Yazed returned to his mother’s room and found Jenny sitting quietly next to Amber. She was reading a book about business. His mother remained asleep, to his surprise. "Oh, you're already here." Jennelyn greeted the young man warmly. If she was in a different situation, she would have thrown away the book she was just holding. She didn't particularly like reading and she didn't understand anything in that book. Another thing that annoyed her was that Amber was obviously just pretending to be asleep and didn't want to talk to her.

I shook my head and walked towards the stairs to attend to Arlene because for some reason, I can't help but find myself drifting in crazy thoughts with Jenna around me. Getting there, she was already on her bed, reading from some kiddies books with her attention fully on it. I knocked on the door and peeped through the little space, she softened the moment she saw me. I love it so much when I'm with Arlene, it makes me feel so different, like I'm not the asshole everyone paints me to me.

“But, querida, I have one question... Well, two.” “Hmm?” He shifts slightly, lips brushing my hair. “Who is Brianna? And why didn’t Jenna go all sucker punch on Lala? I swear I was expecting broken ribs and at least one flipped coffee table.” I burst out laughing, loud and real. It comes from my belly and my bones. “Jenna is the storm, but I think even she knew I needed to have that moment for myself. Besides, she said if she punched Lala, she might break the girl’s whole bloodline. Jenna’s strength isn’t for show, babe. It’s generational.”

Chapter 62: Not Crazy Brilliant sunlight reflects in the ripples on the lake's surface, like a million twinkling fireflies. As Jenny walks along, the wooden slats of the dock feel warm beneath her bare feet. A summer breeze ruffles her red hair and kisses her skin. Her swimsuit is dry—she hasn't been in the water yet. Chelsea's brown curls bounce as she precedes Jenny toward the end of the dock. The place is familiar, though Jenny's never been here before. The sun is just warm enough that she's looking forward to splashing into the cool, clear water.

she said with a small smile, as the thought of having her birthday party at a club just didn’t sound tempting at all. Jenna leaned back against her seat and looked at her, “Adrian didn’t say something to you, did he?” she asked quietly, wondering what made her change her mind this year. Aria took a small sip of her hot chocolate and looked at her, “No, we haven’t even discussed it yet, and besides can you even imagine him at a club” she said with a smile as she tried picturing it in her head. Jenna smiled and looked at her, “You’re right he would look so out of place” she said before she answered her ringing phone and talked to Miles.

She hugged Amber and headed downstairs. “Never, ever let her quit,” I whispered to Amber. “I won’t,” she replied. Jenny was in the living room, reading a book in some language I didn’t recognize. “What are you doing, Babe?” I asked. “Reading,” she grinned, knowing I wouldn’t let it go. “Well, until someone interrupts me.” “In a foreign language?” I teased, though it was obvious. “For you, yes. For me, no,” she played along. “Is it a good book?” I joined in.

Several Weeks Later Jasper slowly eased his body onto its side. Mimicking sleep, he intently listened to the conversation between a young woman named, Cora, and the old nurse he’d heard called both Bess and Smithfield. He’d assumed that her true name was Elizabeth Smithfield with Bess being the nick name for Elizabeth, but names were funny things. He’d noticed the increasing pattern of nick names or abbreviated names being given to children at birth by parents wanting to be different. Therefore, he could have been incorrect on that assumption.

She turns over and looks me in the eyes. “I Jane Burns hereby declare my loyalty to Noah Greenwood and the Blackmoon pack.” Alpha Roan, Arthur and Emma look shocked at Jane and got quiet.
