The cave cracked, and the water seemed to have a mind on its own that it brought the rebels’ downing bodies outside. Malaika waved one hand, liquidating a pile of snow, creating a block of sharp ice, and hit everyone. Fashi tried to fight back, summoning the water he could wield, but Malaika was not bothered. She created a mini waterspout in her hands and attacked the rebel leader. The waterspout circled Fashi’s neck until he was out of breath. Malaika was not satisfied, looking at the elves lying on the ground, barely breathing.

Zayne snarled, gripping the hilt of the dagger like it was Pyro's neck he was squeezing. "The rebels aren't a group of sane men, Zayne. We're all mad. Only a madman can stand against the parliamentarians." Pyro chuckled, but it was more psychotic than humorous. "To join the rebels, you must be mad, and what other way to show your madness than to hurt your mate and the moon child. Just one swipe to the dagger, and you'll be part of us, the rebels."

“Crusher sends his greetings.” The last shot hit Rebel right at the base of the spine, leaving him alive, but not able to move even one inch. The men contemplated him, prone and helpless on the ground, his golden eyes huge in his face, then they shrugged and turned around. “I’m not risking another shot being heard,” the blond one said to his friend, then glanced down at Rebel. “See you in hell, asshole.” “That’ll be way sooner than you think,” Rebel slurred. “When my boys find out what you’ve done here, they’ll come for you, motherfuckers. They’ll come for all of you.”

Maximus declared, his eyes reflecting both determination and a hint of vulnerability. The rebels, a diverse group of former slaves and dissidents, nodded in agreement. They trusted Maximus, not only for his formidable combat skills but also for his unwavering belief in their cause. Together, they plotted their next series of ambushes, exploiting the natural features of the forest to their advantage.

Kael growled, slashing through two more enemies as his Alpha aura erupted like wildfire. “They’ve waited for it,” Lena corrected, her claws slick with blood. “This isn’t rebellion. It’s a purge.” The path narrowed ahead—a killing corridor of stone. Mira raised her hands, whispering an incantation. A wave of shimmering energy burst from her palms, scattering rebel archers from the cliffs above and sending boulders tumbling. The earth cracked under the force, disrupting the enemy formation. Lucien charged through the breach. “Come on! Push through!”

I say. Luban grins excitedly. They miss our father as much as the rest of us do. The thought of seeing him again, speaking to him again, is overwhelming. “This may not work,” I remind them. “Don’t get your hopes up.” I say goodbye to Malachi and my sons who take off in the direction of the pits, while Luban and I stay on the ground, sticking to the shadows. It’s slower to travel this way, but less conspicuous.

She had to get out of here, and fast. But just as she was about to make a run for it, she heard a sound behind her. She turned around and saw a group of werewolf rebels standing in the shadows, watching her. "Well, well, well," a woman's voice said, and Karen recognized it as the leader of the rebels. "What have we here?" Karen felt a surge of hope. She had heard about the rebels, and she knew that they were skilled fighters who sought to overthrow the oppressive monarchy and establish a new, more just society.

“That will kill you.” He looks at me — really looks — and for a moment I see peace in his expression. “Maybe it’s time something ended.” “Axel, please—” But before I can reach him, the ground trembles. The sky splits open. And from the center of the ruins, a voice rises — cold, mechanical, familiar. > “Reboot complete.” I grab his arm, the wind tearing around us. “What’s happening?” He stares into the light ahead. “The world just remembered us.”

The other two rebels dropped straight to their knees, trembling under the suffocating weight of the Alpha’s fury. Kael slowly stood up, stepping off Marcus’s twitching body. He looked around the room, his eyes lingering on my bloody ribs, then Leon’s ruined shoulder, before finally landing on the three rebels. The sheer disgust radiating off him was paralyzing. "Pathetic," Kael whispered, his low voice making the floorboards vibrate. "The enemy hasn't even breached the inner walls, and you’re already turning on your own for a shred of power. You aren't warriors. You're liabilities."

They haul me to my feet with such urgency that said "the faster they get this over with, the better it would be for everyone" They proceed to drag me through the trees like a plague they could not bear to touch. When we finally come to a stop at the clearing just at the edge of the forest, torchlight flared and I see them in the distance. The Moon council, looking exactly like the stories had described. The same seven figures, the same silvery black robes, the same air of entitlement and superiority, the same elder with ice in his eyes stood at the center. He looks at me like he had finally won a game I had no idea we were playing.
