Reese came with him, wearing a jacket over her tank top, and as usual, she was in jeans. Reese didn't care. She was just uncomfortable wearing dresses. He brought her to the private club where he met Wendell and Keith, but mostly, he spent time with Brooklyn. Reese said hello to the boys. She thought they were always nice, especially Wendell. Sean had another friend named Evan, but he missed many gatherings after he and his wife broke up.

Reese played with the fork as she gathered strength for her next statement. "I was wrong last night, intruding where I shouldn't." "Typical. You're forgiven." That nasty pride. She'd kill him soon. But pressing down her anger… "Look, I shouldn't be asking but what was that book on your desk? And why's that symbol on it?"

“So, what book are you reading?” “Uh,” she laughed nervously. “It's the Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen. It's a pretty cool book.” “Really? Tell me about it.” “Okay,” she drew her chair closer, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “It's about a woman. Josie, who wakes up to find someone in her closet. Josie is unhappy with her life, and her mother's very demanding. It deals with magical realism in a very beautiful way.” Pride spiked in my chest, coursed through my veins. “You're so brilliant, do you know that?”

Inside The Club: Both the girls entered in the club to enjoy their selves. When both of them entered in the club they are shocked to seen so many people inside the club enjoying their night. Wow! I can’t believe this. Lily said enthusiastically. What are you excited about, it is so suffocated here. Let go somewhere else. Reese said showing her displeasure. Oh! Now if people don’t enjoy here then where will they go, To church. Huh!!! Lily said sarcastically to her.

The invitation arrives via email. It's from Lisette. The subject line says: "Book Club - You Should Come." And the message is typical Lisette. Direct. No preamble. Just: "I started a book club. First month we're reading your book. You should come read to us." I call her immediately. "You started a book club and didn't tell me?" I ask. "I'm telling you now. It's six women. We meet once a month. This month we're reading your book because it's important and it's brilliant and I want to talk about it with people who will actually understand why it matters."

“O-ow… Are you playing the naughty wife right now?” "Maybe yes." Blakely laughed loudly. Laughing at how brave she was today for not telling Nickson about her plans to attend Reese's friend's birthday party. But it was better if she didn't tell Nickson so they wouldn't have to fight like they used to. This time she just wanted to help Reese, there wasn't any intention other than that. "I think Nickson is the typical possessive guy." Reese turned the car to the left, drove west, and passed the branded goods shops that stood along the bustling main street. This felt like a date to him instead of a lunch.

The book club ladies were in fine form this afternoon. Margaret Thompson sat primly on the floral couch in a rented out space close to the library, a half-empty teacup balanced on her knee, her Bible study notes open on the coffee table. The conversation had started with the latest Christian fiction novel — something about redemption and resisting temptation — but it had drifted, as it always did, into more personal territory. Gossip dressed up as prayer requests. “Speaking of temptation,” one of the women said, lowering her voice with dramatic concern, “have you heard what’s going around about that poor Thompson boy?”

I started brightly. “Oh my God,” she answered, sounding stunned. “I finally finished The Last Werewolf Ever last night, and Camille... Seriously. I can’t believe Celeste is pregnant!” “I know,” I squealed in delight, happy she’d gotten caught in the story’s spell as much as I had. “Do you think there’s going to be another book? One of us should write this Samara Rising author lady and find out.” “That would be you,” she said. “You’re totally the leader of our book club; you write her. Maybe it’ll be called The Last Werewolf Ever: For Real. What do you think?”

“Me and Tania have been paired for an assignment.” “Oh, maybe later then…” Reese gave her a dashing smile. Quinn chewed on her lip making Reese take pause. “You want to say something, Quinn? Don’t be nervous, speak your mind.” Quinn’s eyes seemed to brighten and dazzled him as she slow blinked. “You could come with us if you weren’t doing anything right now? We just need to do a quick outline, get a couple of books and then we’re done.” Reese had to block his view of her adorable expression and covered his face with one hand. “You’re asking me to join you?” He peeked out from between his fingers. “With that cute look on your face…damn, how can I say no?”

"The one and only. Is that an alien on the cover?" "Yes." I flip it around and show her properly. "A sexy blue one. It's great." Peyton blinks, and I clear my throat. "I'm Gardenia. And I'm reading this for a naughty book club. It's awesome, and you should totally join." I don't invite just anyone to our precious book club, but this girl clearly needs some sexy aliens in her life. She's staring at the book like a door's just opened in her brain.
