Chapter 37: The Discovery *Vivian's POV* I hurried back into my room, slamming the door behind me with more force than necessary. My hands were shaking as I pressed my back against the wood, trying to process what had just happened. The rejection had been swift and brutal. The way Tony had grabbed my wrist, the ice in his voice when he'd warned me never to touch him like that again, it was like being slapped across the face. Eight years I'd stood by his side, loyal through every crisis, every betrayal, every moment when lesser people would have run. I'd killed for him, lied for him, sacrificed pieces of my soul to keep him safe and successful. And this was what I got in return?

"What?" He sighed again, putting a finger under my chin and looking closer at my neck. He was looking at the scars, I just knew it. I shrunk away from him and shoved his hand away, my eyes wide as my chest tightened. "All the pain and suffering you endured, you didn't deserve any of it. You are extremely special and your mate should have treasured you. His decision to reject you was a reflection of him, not you. I hope you understand that." I was crying before I could even process his words. "He only rejected me because I was an omega. If my parents were still alive, I would have been an alpha," I gritted out, my voice cracking with emotion.

The agony of August’s rejection was too much. I blacked out under the weight of the pain. I woke up in my bedroom. Following the notification from my phone on the nightstand, I reached out in a struggle. The screen’s glare blinded my eyes. There was a new post on Anna Morgart’s social media feed. A photo showed August Sterling staring at Anna with downcast eyes, his gaze tender. It was the same look I had longed for through many sleepless nights.

Tony hadn't been happy since Abigail rejected his offer to take her shopping instead of Tanya. He wasn't sure whether Abigail would pick the right outfits, therefore turning gloomy when the maid announced that Tanya had arrived. Abigail jumped with excitement before Tony gave her a cool reminder. "Don't forget my lunch and also, it's good you are free.
