The Beta's Daughter
Doctor Chenoa’s blue-grey eyes wavered before me, blurring with the backdrop of grey mist and rain behind her, blurring with the cool toned light of the small room.
“Sad, isn’t it?” She said, with a small, despondent smile that didn’t meet her eyes.
“It is,” I said softly. “To split one’s soul is a point of no return,” I murmured.
“Yes,” she agreed. “It does pose an interesting question. Is the loss of one’s soul ever worth the rewards?”
I felt that we were verging on discussions of demonism, and I chose my stance carefully.
“Never,” I vowed, feeling much like Alo, righteous in my choice.
