Nor submissive. But there was something in her posture that screamed contained surrender. Obedience with swallowed fury and a desperate need to be protected. “Last question,” I said, lowering my tone. “Can you keep secrets?” “I know how to survive them. She kept reading. “I know I have no right to write to you,”a tear rolled down her cheek. “You told me never to come back, you told me you didn’t want me anymore, you were right.”

She hurried away, her steps light and quick, like a kitten scampering from a teasing hand. The hallway was crowded, students milling about between classes. Kyra wove through them, her mind drifting to Silas, his deep voice, his steady presence. But suddenly, a hand clamped around her wrist, yanking her aside into a shadowed alcove. She gasped, spinning to face Aaron, his face twisted with frustration. "Kyra, stop ignoring me!" Aaron hissed, his grip tightening. "I've been patient for months. You keep rejecting me, but I know you feel it too. Accept my love, be with me!"

She didn’t belong here. My hands tightened on the balcony railing as I fought the urge to leap forward. The pain in my shoulder flared in response to Rhaegon’s presence, searing, erotic, primal. Dru will become part of the pack with Garret being her mate, but I doubt Dane will actually allow me to become part of this pack myself. When the battle commenced, I was at the far end of the pack lands, praying to the moon goddess to guide me. My future seemed uncertain with so many questions I had no answers to.
