A Flame in the Shadow

A Flame in the Shadow

Ember commands something deeper. I crest a ridge of jagged obsidian and stop. The sight nearly knocks the breath from my lungs. She stands at the center of a vast expanse of black glass. Shadow demons, thousands of them, form a massive circle around her. Horned giants, winged creatures with burning eyes. Beasts older than kingdoms. Every single one bowed. Not in fear, in reverence. Ember stands in the center of them like a queen who has finally stepped onto the throne she was always meant to claim. Gold light moves faintly through the darkness around her body, weaving through the shadows as if the realm itself were bowing to her. For a moment, I can only stare. In all my years here, I have n

Salden, his aide said to him. Kalta stared at his aide and without a word spun around and headed for the hall. "We hail thee, the end of all beginnings." What happened to the original writer of this book? The new writer is a far cry from the first one in terms of style, creativity, dialogue and story telling. He has turned a once very arresting story into a very boring one. It is sad.
