Nightfell surged back.
The corridor became a snarl of bodies and growls and steel.
Caelan noticed Sable’s flinch and moved instantly, turning his body between her and the doorway. For a second he looked alive in the most ordinary way—protective, furious, human in his choices even if his blood wasn’t fully his yet.
