Why was I so cursed? I didn’t have time to contemplate this any further. Instead, I did what I did best. I ran. Every werewolf in this pack, their wolf is okay. But there are some wolves who aren't ok. Sometimes, they are rejected by their pack and kicked out. Over time, those wolves become rogues. A rogue is a wolf who has gone feral and lost their humanity. There is no saving a rogue wolf. Once rogue, they're deadly and dangerous. I guess you can think of it as a disease in a way. And in the end, it's a death sentence. Because eventually, they'll do something that will get them killed.

Arthur had felt their presence like an instinct he couldn’t explain. “I… I tried to stop them.” But it had been too late. They would never abandon their comrades to their deaths. All Arthur could do was go after them and try to kill as many rogues as he could. Didn’t know how many rogues there were, but he knew that the patrol members would be in trouble. They fought fiercely, ripping and tearing through the rogues in practiced patterns. A rogue was only at an advantage against one werewolf because rogues were fierce and irrational beasts. Against teams of three, a rogue lost the advantage of being unpredictable as the three werewolves could cooperate.

Then we wrote the word ‘loser’ on his face. As we stepped out, we were attacked by some of his men, but we took them down effortlessly. The big difference that sets a rogue apart from a werewolf is that rogues don’t usually have much to lose and fight to the death. We escaped, laughing our asses off as we fell on the clear grass near our pack, looking up at the half-moon in the sky.

“What do you mean?” “Rogues do not have a pack. Because of this, they become wild—unpredictable. These rogues—” she broke into a coughing fit, then cleared her throat and continued “— spoke amongst themselves clearly.” It obviously took a lot of energy for her to speak, but she tried her best, even though her face turned slightly red from the effort. “They worked . . . as one.” “But that's impossible. Rogues are our opposites because they no longer understand the concept of packship. They feed and hunt for themselves only, and would turn on another rogue as soon as they sense any threats.”

Iris mumbled. “Mum? Who’s Rogue?” Indianna asked, watching her mother’s facial expression closely. She flinched when she heard the name and Indianna pursed her lips. “Don’t lie, mum.” “Rogue? A rogue is a wolf that—” “I know what a rogue is,” Indianna snapped. “Rogue. Not a rogue, the Rogue.” “I wasn’t aware there was a ‘the’ rogue,” Iris shrugged and Indianna scoffed, standing up abruptly.

What does the term 'Rogue' mean to you? To some, it may mean a person that has been dishonest or disloyal. A person willing to go against the norm. To others, it could mean a person that's been cast out due to their savage or destructive tendencies. But to me, a rogue is just a person that has been condemned to live a life outcast from everyone else. A rogue is a person that's forced to fight for their survival on a regular and constant basis.
