“Then blood will spill before the prophecy intends it to.” ……. In the deepest part of the forest, where the moonlight barely kissed the ground, a figure stood on a high ridge. Eyes glowing molten gold, burning with something fierce… and broken. The rogue alpha. His long coat fluttered in the breeze as he stared down at the distant lights of the city. The scent of Elaina still lingered on the wind—wildflower and power. “She’s awakening…” he murmured, jaw clenched, claws flexing at his sides.

It might not be necessary to shift, and it will be much easier to fight if I’m not wearing a dress. As soon as I’m dressed, I step outside and immediately hear a snarl. I turn to the left and there is a brown rogue wolf stalking towards me. You can always identify the rogues because they look mangey and deranged, like a dog who’s been abused and beaten. His fur is filthy, with a few patches missing, and he smells like vulture vomit. The combination of death and decay mixed with the burning, acidic scent of vomit is the worst possible combination.

I shifted too… fur, teeth, claws, every muscle burning with the need to protect, to survive, to destroy anything that touched my pack. We collided with the rogue wave. Claws slashed across my shoulder. I snapped my jaws around a wolf’s neck. Another rammed into my side. The impact sent pain shooting down my ribs, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop. “Kane…south flank is breaking!” Zack’s voice tore through the link. “We’re trying to push through…just hold!” Hold. We were drowning. A giant rogue slammed me into a tree. My skull rang. The world spun before it could strike again, Kane was there…. ripping it off me, throwing its body into the dirt.

Adrian said contemptuously, "The white dragon sent you, didn’t it? Wild spirit of Obscura, don't you know that Silverboa will wipe you all out one day?" Autumn's voice then came with the sea breeze. "Hehe, that's none of your concern because I will find a way to keep you here.” Before Adrian could counter further, a violent gust of wind struck the sea surface, creating waves over ten meters high right in Adrian's path. Faced with these waves, he halted. With a horizontal slash, he split open a gap in the waves, calmly passing through them. But even after he passed, more ferocious waves came crashing in.

Luckily, the shore was close, the sand visible through the mist and spray of the ocean. But the ocean wasn’t finished with them yet. A rogue wave, larger and more ferocious than the rest, crashed into the raft, nearly capsizing it. Everyone found something to grip on to stay aboard. Laurie cried out, her hands slipping as the wave threatened to pull her over. But Archie was there, his arms wrapping around her, holding her steady. “I’ve got you,” he whispered. “I’m not letting go.” “I–I can’t continue,” Laurie said. “I’m not strong enough to hold on.”

Nothing prepares you for the moment when a thousand hearts beat as one, then stop beating altogether. ‎The first wave hits like a storm. ‎ ‎Rogues pour through the smoke, eyes glowing like coals, claws gleaming in the firelight. I raise my sword just in time to block a blow that can split me in half. The impact sends a jolt down my arm, and for a second, I thought I had dropped the blade. ‎ ‎But I didn’t. I growl, an actual feral sound and shove back, my boot slamming into the rogue’s chest. He stumbles, and before he can recover, I drive my blade through his ribs.

The Rogue whimpered as he laid on the ground, the brick cracked behind him from the impact, before he went limp. That was two Rogues… But there had been three. I spun around then to see that the final Rogue, a smaller and scrappier one, was hungrily sniffing at Moana. A low, thunderous growl rumbled in my throat as I stalked closer to him. At the same time, a loud lightning strike lit up the sky. The Rogue slowly lifted his head, his dopey eyes shifting back and forth. When he realized that he was the only one left and that his leader was possibly even dead, he quickly turned tail and ran like a coward without even a moment of hesitation.

Rose I was adrift in a sea of turbulent inky waves threatening to take me under, with no rescue in sight. My body felt as if it was sinking deeper into the depths with a current sending me into violent obscurity. Tendrils of darkness clung to my body, determined to latch on and smother the life out of me. I tried to pry open my eyes to escape the desolate environment, but my eyelids felt as if they were almost glued shut.

His Wolf growled angrily, the sound rocking his brain before it fell silent. "Ask your questions." He told her more coldly than he intended. Amira raised a brow at him, adjusting the skirt of her dress as she folded her legs over one another. "Right." She cleared her throat as she casted her gaze out over the still water, "How many of you are there?" She asked him, getting straight to the point. "Excuse me?" "How many Rogues live here?" She rephrased her question. "Rogues?" He questioned, "Right, I guess that is what am, isn't it? There's only three of us. My mom, grandpa and myself."

My boots skidded on fragments of glass, the sound sharp and abrasive. Thermal waves hit my face. The temperature rose instantly, singeing the fine hairs on my skin. Sweat broke out across my neck, cold and stinging as it mixed with the soot. My eyebrows prickled from the heat. The air smelled of sulfur, pulverized stone, and the organic scent of roasting tissue. "Queen!" A Rogue stumbled out of the grey fog. His facial tissue was scorched, the skin blackened and peeling in wet strips. He gripped my arm. His claws were unsheathed, the pressure of his grip bruising my biceps.
