Inferno stirred, curious.
Ragnar lifted his hand, and plunged it into the snow. When he pulled it free, frost crawled up his arm, spreading, thickening, encasing muscle and bone in living ice. The temperature dropped further, my breath stuttering as cold slammed into me like a wall.
“This is the wild,” Ragnar said quietly. “It does not burn bright. It endures.” The frost surged outward.
I felt it lock my joints, numb my fingers, slow my heartbeat. Inferno pressed back, heat flaring but Ragnar shook his head. “Not like that.”
