I said, standing up. Damien followed suit, walking me toward the hall. Then it happened. The part I’d completely forgotten about. “There’s only one bedroom left,” Damien said, his voice smug as he looked at me. “Guess we’re roommates tonight.” My soul left my body. The bedroom was massive—high ceilings, crisp sheets, and of course, one single, traitorous king-size bed in the center of it all like a smug little throne. We both stood there, staring at it.

“Let me teach you a few positions that make it easier to get pregnant. First, you do this, and then…” Annette’s face turned bright red as she listened, her wide eyes glistening with a mixture of embarrassment and fascination. She nodded absentmindedly, clearly overwhelmed. After sharing her “tips,” Rachel told Annette to take a shower, saying she’d help her with makeup once she was back so they could head out for Annette’s debut as a “lucky charm.” While they were busy, I used the downtime to post a question on the university’s online forum: "Urgent! Rose let her sleepy eyes take in her small dorm room. She was in her small bunk bed that was placed in a corner of the room. Rose had the lower bunk while her roommate had the top bunk. Her bed side table as next to the bed and a wardrobe which they both shared. Rose had half of the wardrobe to her self while her roommate had had the other half. They both shared things mutually and she liked that Tiffany, her roommate respected her privacy and was never intruding in her personal space.

001 ROOMIE AURORA Her side of the room is a hot mess. My roommate I mean.. Clothes are hanging halfway out of drawers and the bed looks like somebody wrestled a bear on it and lost. I stand frozen in the doorway of Dorm C, Room 214, one hand gripping the handle of my suitcase while the other clutches the crumpled housing paper that definitely says female roommate requested. Requested being the important word, apparently. A sigh leaves my lips. “Okay,” I mutter to myself. “Not judging. Maybe she’s going through something.”

“Fine. So you’re my roommate.” My roommate? That’s impossible! “What’s your name?” “I’m… Iris.” He nodded. “And I’m Kevin Halkos. Be calm and don’t bother me.” Then he turned around and entered one of the rooms, closing the door behind him, leaving me standing in the living room like a new piece of furniture that didn’t know where it had been placed.
