I stopped watching them and stared at the apples that were ripe. "I should have eaten to my fill, wasting my time watching rough sex between two of my friends" I uttered as dug my teeth into the apples. They were quite tasty, so I ate more of it, I was getting tired of listening to their moans, I was a bit shocked when the tree started shaking vigorously, I knew they had changed position, I held onto a branch as many apples fell off the tree as their pace increased, it was quite hard to believe that they could do this, this had gone from rough to rough rough.

With the taxes and having no proper source of income, Fyn couldn't even trade them with the herbs he found near his hut. "Screw it," Fyn muttered. "It could eat me for all I care." Without wasting any more time, Fyn bit into the apple and he couldn't help it, he groaned in delight. The taste of the apple exploded in his mouth. The sweetness coating his tongue like a second skin. As he expected, he started biting into the apple like a deranged man who hadn't eaten in days. Slobbering like a pig. Swallowing like it was the best meal he had in days. Honestly, it was. The best thing he had ever tasted.

Taking a deep breath, I steadied myself, preparing for what awaited me on the other side. My teeth stopped grinding into the rosy fruit once I realized the chewy texture and unsweetened taste did not match the usual crunch-filled juicy bite with sweet and sour flavorings. I glanced down at it. My eyes widened at the horrid maggot-infested heart beating in my hands. I let out a terror-filled scream and dropped the squishy human organ on the ground. More maggots slid out the hole I created when l dug my teeth into what I thought was an apple. I jumped hysterically in fear at the vomit-inducing heart still beating on the ground.

I have no idea. The books were old, some pages are rotten and smell like mushrooms in a wet forest. I smiled when I realized that these books were precious. And they were all about my kind, the Helsings. For hours, all I did was read and get drowned in these pile of books. I have never been flooded with knowledge unlike before. Then my nose caught up with what my tongue already sensed. I nearly emptied my stomach onto the floor. It smelled like flesh that had been dead and hidden for days in the heat. Like the sheep that died in the far field and weren’t discovered for long. I’d seen food rot before, been forced to eat some, but never had I seen it so dark and wet and wrong. The entire loaf was rotten. And it was moving. “Aaargh!”

Aside from the grapes, the apple, and mostly other fruits that I know of, the recipes and other vegetables are so different from what my old life had tasted. There were even tiny red circles like that were shaped like chains which smelled like the sweet scent of green apple but tasted like a chocolate bar. 'So amazing right?
