I gripped the counter, knuckles white. “Pull yourself together, Aurora,” I whispered to the mirror, voice shaking. “You can’t keep falling apart.”
But the thing was—I already had.
The sobs came again, this time silent and shaking. I slid down to the floor, cold tile against my knees, clutching my stomach like I could still protect what was gone.
