I nodded. Kael held out his hand. I placed mine in it. We walked out. The tribunal arena was outside the city limits, on a stretch of open land that belonged to the High Council directly. It was a neutral ground with no pack flags or territorial markings. Just a massive circular stone structure that looked like it had been standing for centuries, open to the sky, with tiered stone seating rising up on all sides. It was full.

Alora’s POV The arena looked more like a sports ground than anything sacred. From the way it looked, one could see that it had seen some good days. There was a wide circle cut into the earth, flat dirt in the middle, ringed with rows of concrete seating that climbed in rough tiers. The steps were cracked in places, patched with cement that didn’t match. Grass pushed through in the corners where nobody bothered to clean. Four steel poles stood at equal points around the ring, each one wired with floodlights.

The circular arena lay in the center of the village and was made of smooth ice. It was around thirty feet in diameter and surrounded by eight stalagmite-shaped ice pillars crowned with sputtering torches. Between these pillars stretched thin, highly transparent but durable panes of ice that served as barriers through which the audience could watch. These barriers curved away from the torches and went on to meet at the top to create a twenty-foot-high bubble dome that deterred fighters from jumping too high.

"Why on earth did they build an arena so far away from the court?" I shrugged, trying to shake off the nerves. "Let's go in." The arena itself looked impressive. It was a wide space opened out in a rectangular shape, with the four entrances facing each other, forming a circular area inside. There were several if not hundreds of bleachers overlooking the stage, and at the center of the bleachers at the top, was a makeshift throne.

Great call. The arena floor is arranged in levels. At the centre sits the fighting pit, what everyone here calls the Ring. It’s a square platform surrounded by thick ropes and metal barriers, something between a wrestling ring and a cage. Bright lights hang above it, illuminating every inch of the surface like a stage. Blood stains the mat, when I look closely I see that the stains are fresh. Crowds pack the surrounding seats, men and women shouting, betting, waving money in the air. That thought of sitting next to Lorenzo all night makes my stomach tighten.

Today, all of the people who were announced to enter the top twenty are all sitting together at the center highest row of the audience’s seats while waiting for the start of the closing ceremony since that was what the facilitators instructed them to do. All the other two long chairs on their both sides and the chair in front of them were emptied and was given a barrier so that no one from the audience could bother them. Because of that, they stood out even more—though that was what the higher ups intended to do. The place was decorated a little bit compared to how it was during the normal examination days. There is a stage set up in the middle of the arena where they fought together and won

We emerged on the other side of a cluster of homes and came upon a large fenced-in area overlooking a cliff. As we got closer, I realized that it was a large, circular stone arena. It had rough edges and was surrounded by wooden stands where it looked like people could gather and watch whatever went on inside. She opened up the gate leading inside the arena. There was training equipment throughout the area like rope, wooden barrels, and target dummies. “Avery, this place looks more for warriors than for healers.” Avery winked. “Bingo! Today, we’re going to train in the ways of combat! Come on in, we’ll have fun!”

The sight of our whole pack in front of her makes her eyes widen for a split second before she schools her expression into a hard, cold look. “Arena.” She says just this one word then turns and leaves. She’s looking much better than our Alpha. There is this aura of authority around her, and the leather she’s wearing makes her look even fiercer than before. Steele gestures at us to follow him and I’m assuming he’s taking us to this ‘arena’ Luna spoke of. The area we enter is a huge empty space with a ring in the middle and rows above rows of seats around it. In the corner of the room there’s a big armchair. Luna makes her way straight to it, sitting down.

At the end, it opened up into a space. My eyes widened. It wasn't a warehouse anymore, it was an arena. In the center of the room sunk into the floor, was a circular pit filled with sand. Surrounding it were tiers of leather seats and glass tables, filled with people in tuxedos and evening gowns. Waiters moved through the crowd with trays of glasses and lines of white powder. But everyone's attention was on the pit. Two men were down there. They were shirtless, bloodied, and circling each other.

He knew the strategy he was going to employ would not fail him! A loud horn buzzed and the lights over his head turned green, it was time. He walked out of the lobby and onto a hallway leading back to the arena. The fighting arena was a raised platform about ten feet off the ground. The floor of the arena was pure concrete slabs connected, forming a perfect square measuring a hundred meters on each side. In the middle of the arena stood the announcer and an umpire. Norval headed for a flight of stairs that gave him access to the arena. He scaled them slowly, his feet synchronizing with the chants of the crowd.
