Rowan… who? A chair scraped somewhere behind me. I turned slightly and then I saw him. He was tall. Not in an intimidating way like Lucian, but in a relaxed, effortless way. Dark hair fell slightly over his eyes, and there was something calm about the way he carried himself.

"And you're here now. That matters." We reached a clearing where a small stream cut through the trees. Charles recommended we rest and refill our water bottles. As everyone busied themselves, I noticed Rowan standing apart, watching us with those knowing eyes of his. Something about him had always bothered me. I approached him casually. "Do you know where we might find Orion Blackwood?" Rowan smiled. "Why ask me?" "Because you seem to know everything else about the prophecy." He shrugged.
