“Miss Nightingale, are you certain you want us to stage your death in three days?” the elder from the Silver Coast Temple asked gravely. It happened to be the Moon Blessing Festival, the most important day of the year for every werewolf pack. The wind came howling straight at me. I closed my eyes and let the tears slide down my face. “Yes,” I said. “I'm certain.” The elder fell silent for a long moment before letting out a low sigh.

Got it?” “Yes, your Majesty!” his soldiers answered readily. “Attack!!” he roared. A pack member who was sitting in the next booth sat up on his knees and looked over, he was right behind Waylon and grinned, “Waylon is totally right, sometimes we fuck for a whole week straight but when it is the first night of the blood moon, we have orgies.”

Alpha Klein stared at them both for a brief moment before stepping outside again. Sleek’s eyes remained fixed on the baby for a long while before he finally shifted his gaze back toward Alpha Klein. “I think I should leave now,” Sleek said calmly. “I only came to drop the message.” “What message?” Alpha Klein’s deep voice stopped him immediately. Sleek turned slowly and walked closer. “It’s about Caloon tomorrow.” Caloon. A celebration held throughout the werewolf community every third moon of the month. A night where multiple packs gathered together to celebrate, hunt, feast, drink, discuss alliances and sometimes even choose mates publicly before the Moon Goddess.

Thunder rumbled in the distance—low, distant, promising. I looked at her sideways. “You said something earlier. About blood moons.” Harper nodded, her face suddenly unreadable. “There’s one coming. Five nights from now.” My heart kicked. “They don’t happen often,” she went on. “And when they do, they mess with wolves more than most realize. Heighten everything. Strength. Instinct.
