This was something far more dangerous. A section of the tunnel began to crumble, a cascade of dust and debris raining down around him. He scrambled to his feet, his heart pounding in his chest, his eyes wide with terror. The rumbling intensified, as if the earth itself was trying to swallow him whole. He turned and ran, pushing himself to his limits, sprinting as fast as his legs would carry him.

DIAMOND POV: I can almost hear it simply because of how loud it is, the sound of rubble crashing and tumbling along the sides of the cave walls. I can feel a whole section of the tunnel converging into itself, and I don't even get the time to feel fear.

Jack only gaped with a wide open mouth that was almost touching the ground and asked me, “What in the Goddess name was that?” Even I was stunned and all I could do was staring in confusion. “I…I don’t know…I just touched it like you said…” Jack furrowed his eyebrows and placed his hands on his hips, “you know what? Try again…touch it” No sooner had he said this we heard a deep rumbling sound coming from the pits of the cave. It was a sound that we had never heard before, a growl and a menacing roar that wanted to tear him apart. It was so startling that Jack almost slipped and fell face down on the ground that was slick with the black liquid as well.

Queenie rebuked Deril. Instantly, the man fell silent. Queenie’s right; the rocks below them were so slippery. Some even looked pointed and sharp. Deril imagined if he slipped and fell sitting, the first thing that would happen was a pointed stone would directly pierce his ass. He shuddered with all his imagination. They all walking more than three hours. There were no sounds or animals in the cave. There was only the sound of gurgling water falling from the cave walls. Everything felt damp, looked dark, mossy, and suffocating.

The light at the end of the tunnel is near. The entrance to the cave shakes the earth. The staircase shifts as we travel pass the Great Grizzly. Although all living beings are frozen in time for us to escape, the inorganic materials like rocks are still moving about freely. The rocks drop on the staircase chipping away at the ground little by little. The stairs fall into a deep chasm within the Luna mountain.

Toward home. God. Toward safety. Fair. Then the cave shook. Reasonable. Hard. God. Very hard. Fair. A deep rumble echoed through the tunnel. Reasonable honestly. Then rocks began falling. God. Then, the digging began. *There must’ve been many more of him to dig so much, because my cave started to shake and rocks began tumbling down around me. Most of the crumbly stiffs were all gone by now, and the ones ones that were still there fell out from between the rocks as dirt began to fall through. First a little, then a lot. Then the roof of my cave began to fall away as I got my first glimpse of the world above. My mouth began to water, probably because I was so hungry, and something starting thumping - hard - inside my chest.

He shone his light into the small crawlspace. Nothing. "Sir?" a tracker called from the tunnel. Ronan stood by the fissure, his chest heaving with rage. He looked at the waterfall behind the ledge. The water crashed down, a wall of pure noise. He walked to the edge and looked down into the dark, foaming pool at the base of the falls. The current was violent, churning up white foam and debris. He couldn't see a damn thing. "Get a spotlight down here!" Ronan shouted.

He accelerated. We were heading straight for the wall of water. I braced for impact, closing my eyes. WHOOSH. We didn't hit rock. We hit mist. We punched through the waterfall. The noise was deafening for a split second, and then... silence. I opened my eyes. We were inside a massive cavern behind the falls. But it wasn't dark. It was glowing. The cavern was enormous, a hollowed-out mountain large enough to fit a stadium. Bioluminescent crystals—fragments of the meteors?—were embedded in the ceiling, casting a warm, golden light over the entire space.

"We need to keep moving. The river path is our best option now." As we gathered our packs, a low rumble shook the cavern, sending small stones clattering to the ground. "That's not natural," Luna Mara said sharply, her eyes on the ceiling. Another rumble, stronger this time. "They're using explosives," Maison growled, pulling me to my feet. "They're trying to collapse the tunnels." Another blast rocked the cavern, this one close enough to send a shower of dirt and pebbles down on us. Luna Mara staggered against the wall, her face ashen.
