The chosen luna
The bear’s growl echoed louder, closer.
“Faster!” I shouted, grabbing Dara’s wrist and pulling her with me. She stumbled, nearly falling, but caught herself and kept pace.
The tunnel curved again, tighter this time. The sound of rushing water grew louder—another exit?
“Is that—”
“A drop,” Riven said grimly. “It leads to the lower river.”
I saw it ahead now: the tunnel opened into a small ledge, and beyond it, a sheer drop into a dark stream below.
