As soon as I heard Mara shut the door behind me, I got into the car, Ryan turned on the ignition. “I need you to run some intel for me, maybe use the beta intelligence guys. I need you to track all known records of a female white wolf and cross reference the last three decades. I want all battle reports, family registrations and even graves. Anything you can come up with…” Ryan paused, he had gotten out of the driveway and out of Mara’s street before he leaned back in his seat. “That’s… quite a tall order, Alpha. White wolves aren’t exactly common so it should make it easy but going back three decades. That’s a lot of files to go through.”

He picked up his backpack and then went to the camp. He saw that everyone except Arya was sitting around a fire-pit over which they were roasting a freshly caught rabbit. On a table nearby, there was a jug of water, some paper plates, buns and marshmallows. A chest was lying close to it, which had ice and bottles of beer and water. Tinny music from someone’s phone was hurting the otherwise balmy silence of the forest. Over the crackles from the fire, he heard men chattering and relating their experiences about the competition.
